Novel series; Becoming Her - The Story 1

Volume 1 - Part 1

This is a story partially based on a true life story but with some twists (fiction). I hope that you follow the series and you enjoy it. Now let’s get today’s write-up started😌.

The Hook -The day it all changed 

In the early hours of the morning, she opened her eyes, turned and stretched her hands to the other side of the bed, she realized he was not there. She rose gradually, clutched the pillow beside her and placed it beneath her head - on top of the flat one she had slept on. With her hands placed on her belly, she looked a bit sad or maybe worried – It wasn’t a mistake, He is my friend; she thought.

The Genesis - Tolu 

Toluwanimi is a third-year medical student. She had recently passed the basic science exam and qualified for a 75% tuition waiver for her remaining years in medical school. She met Tobi few weeks into her first year as a medic in embryo – he was in his third year in the same department. She had dismissed him when he approached her in the midst of her friends - Bamike, Uloma, and Seyitan. They recognized Tobi; he was previously discussed in the female dormitory as the medic with the “fine face”. He was very prominent as the medical student “with the sauce”, people assumed he was proud; no one really knew his academic standing, but they felt he wasn’t very intelligent, although they found his fashion sense commendable. I guess this prompted Tolu’s attitude. 

Days later, the old students decided to organize a late welcome party for the newbies. Tolu and her friends were excited to get a break from their new boring and hectic lives, their first few classes had definitely taken all the time. On the D-day, all the newbies were dressed up and ready to have fun. The guys (both old and new) were eager to officially meet the girls, while the females in their second year and over, were not so happy about the new girls; they were probably thinking that the newbies will cause commotions, and this would work against them. The girls left their hostels one after the other and made their way to the hall, where the party was being held. On getting to the entrance, Tolu couldn’t find her student card, she had to walk back to the hostel to get it. On her way back to the hall, she saw a tall guy with his head down and earphones on, walking in the opposite direction on the other side of the road. She wanted to get a proper look at the face, so she kept on staring whilst walking across the road. He looked up and their eyes met – It was Tobi. 

This time she got a good look at him and he looked so good in his short and armless shirt. His biceps were huge, this made her swallow her saliva more than once as she walked towards him. As they approached each other, Tobi removed his earphones and smiled at Tolu. He managed to murmur “Hey…you”, Tolu tried to dismiss her excited face but she failed to. She ended up responding with a little side smile. Tobi commented on her short but nice smile and acknowledged that she looked beautiful. With the unfazed smile, she walked slowing away from him. He held her by her wrist to stop her from walking away, this shocked Tolu but she didn’t feel the need to act otherwise – yeah I know she indulged him. She stopped to have a little chat about his absence at the party, he explained that he wasn’t enthused. She smiled again and asked if she could leave, as her friends were waiting for her at the entrance. He slowly released his hands; he noticed that she was uncomfortable on her heels. He smiled while turning in the direction of the party and asked “can I walk with you then?” she nodded in agreement as she held on to his wrist. 

On getting to a close proximity to the hall, Tobi noticed that Bamike signaled to two other girls (Seyitan and Uloma) – who were busy taking pictures and checking out cute boys. They all maintained a position while smiling at Tobi and Tolu from their spot. Tolu introduced them to Tobi, he recognized Bamike – she was earlier with one of his classmates. He smiled at the other girls and murmured “I know her” – pointing to Bamike. The others looked shocked, she not once mentioned meeting him – an untold story. Fast forward to the party, Tobi left Tolu smitten but at the entrance - yes he went about his loner life, although she had tried to conceal it all. They all had fun irrespective.
